RECLAMATION: BEYOND THE VEIL

Our first Liminal Lab of 2025. The first iteration of this piece took place at NYU Tisch / The Lee Strasberg Institute in 2023.

Our Liminal Labs workshop series allows emerging creators of color to fully stage their work for the first time and invites audiences to engage with the material in progress.

Liminal Labs:

  • Targets emerging theatre makers (writers, directors, actors, designers) of color committed to amplifying marginalized voices and creating socially impactful work.

  • It runs as a 3-week development lab, culminating in a developmental sharing session for an invited audience of industry professionals and community members.

  • Provides participants with collaboration opportunities with TLTC's C.O.R.E. members and professional artists.

What makes Liminal Labs unique:

  • Liminal Philosophy: Encourages exploration of transitional spaces—personal, cultural, and societal—through the creative process, fostering work that is both reflective and forward-thinking.

  • Collaborative Environment: Focuses on ensemble-driven creation, emphasizing process over product, allowing participants to experiment without the pressure of finality.

  • Culturally Specific Storytelling: Prioritizes stories and voices from underrepresented communities, ensuring authentic representation and inclusivity.

  • Integration with TLTC Productions: Successful projects may be considered for further development, offering a pathway from concept to performance.

  • Community Engagement: Invites community members into the creative process through feedback sessions, ensuring the work resonates with diverse audiences and remains socially relevant.

Liminal Labs is a nurturing space for theatre-makers to explore bold, groundbreaking ideas, positioning TLTC as a leader in cultivating new work that speaks to the complexity of our world.
